History of Chinook Credit Union

In the fall of 2002, the merger of Brooks Savings & Credit Union Ltd. and Hussar Credit Union Ltd. created Chinook Credit Union Ltd., with six branches located in Bassano, Brooks, Drumheller, Hussar, Lomond and Strathmore. The Hanna branch was opened in 2003. The merger was extremely successful and through it, we accomplished our goal of becoming more competitive and proficient in the marketplace without losing sight of our most important asset - our member-owners.

The Chinook Credit Union Ltd is a dynamic, full-service financial institution serving the communities located east of Calgary. It meets the banking needs of more than 17,000 members, employs more than 127 people, and provides the best of community support to the surrounding areas.
