Important Notice - Daily Limit for Point Of Sale Transactions
Canadian use debit cards millions of times a day at banking machines and point of sale terminals. While the majority of transactions are completed without any problems, there have been a growing number of cases of card fraud in recent years. It cost Canadians about $104.5 million in 2008 in debit cards alone.
So many card holders have hefty withdrawal limits, in many cases, these limits are far beyond the members needs. Criminals are realizing this and taking advantage of it.
Chinook Credit Union Ltd. is continuously looking for ways to protect our members. One of the most effective ways to reduce the average dollar loss per card is to reduce the Point of Sale withdrawal limits.
As a result we will be implementing a $2500 daily limit on Point of Sale Purchases on Member Direct Cards and a $10,000 daily limit on Global Payment MasterCard transactions, effective September 1, 2009
These changes will not affect your current ATM limit on either card.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your local branch.
