ABOUT US - MEMBERSHIP - BECOMING A MEMBER

How to Become a Member

To become a member-owner of Chinook Credit Union, you need to purchase one common share for $1.00. Once you open your common share account, you start to enjoy the benefits of membership - a full range of banking services and a share of the profits.

Your investment in Chinook Credit Union common shares also entitles you to attend the credit union's annual general meeting and to vote on issues important to the credit union's future. You can also vote for members of the Board of Directors or run for a position on the Board of Directors. All Directors come directly from the credit union membership. Each member is entitled to one vote regardless of the number of shares or accounts you have.

To become a member you also have to provide appropriate identification. To open an account or apply for a loan the law says we will need to have proof of your identity. This applies to all financial institutions. Just drop in to your local branch of Chinook Credit Union or Contact Us and we'll be happy to get you started.
